Stop taking rejection personally! Watch this video to learn four ways to reframe rejection so you can meet your last first date!

Rejection hurts. If someone doesn’t want to date you anymore, is your first thought,”What did I do wrong?” There are many other ways to perceive rejection. In this video, I share 4 ways to stop taking rejection personally.

How to Stop Taking Rejection Personally

1. You’re probably not compatible. Think of a time you rejected someone on a dating app or after a few dates. It was probably because you weren’t feeling the type of connection you were looking for. Or they were missing a character trait you need. It’s not personal, it’s just not a good fit for YOU.

2. Rejection prepares you for the right person. Just because one person didn’t feel you were a good fit for them, doesn’t mean ALL people will feel that way. Staying with the wrong person and trying to make them into the right person doesn’t work. Rejection helps clarify what you really need in a relationship and prepares you to meet someone who is a better fit for you.

3. It’s not you, it’s him. Sometimes it’s about him, not you. That person you dated might have a fear of intimacy. Maybe they reject anyone who gets close to them. Maybe you scared them, because your life is so together, and it makes them feel worse about their life. We don’t know why people do what they do, and it really doesn’t matter. Because in most cases, rejection is not about you, it’s about them.

4. Sometimes it is about you, and that’s okay. If you hear the same thing from men over and over, it’s time to take a step back, get your ego out of the way, and ask yourself if there’s something you want to improve about how you show up in dating. Maybe you’re too guarded and men can’t get to know you. Maybe you’re oversharing. Or not sharing enough. These men are doing you a favor and helping you become a better dater.

Even if you know all these things, it can be hard not to take rejection personally. But, if you keep these 4 tips in mind, over time you’ll take rejection less personally and see it as the gift that helped you find your last first date!
