Belly Returns with Third Album, ‘See You Next Wednesday’

Belly is back!

After releasing his Immigrant album in 2018, the Palestinian-born, Canadian-bred artist fell into a depressive state while trying to rediscover himself following a loss in creativity and drive. Now, with a new look on life, Belly is right back at it with the release of his third album, See You Next Wednesday.

“This album was me really trying to find my footing again and trying to be comfortable making music,” Belly explained to NME. “I was drifting away from music and had been for a long time. I needed to unlearn a few things and try making music again.”

“At a point I just had no emotional currency left. I had to get myself together to be able to even get stuff out,” he continued. “It was a tough mission, but with this album the more and more I created, the more I was able to loosen up […] I wanted to make it cohesive; I didn’t want it to sound like a collection of songs. I took my time, and that was probably the first time I’ve ever done that in my life. Instead of just being like, ‘Oh, we’ve got enough. Let’s roll,’ this time I was meticulous about everything.”

Inspired by an unmade film by director John Landis – who’s behind movies like Coming to America, The Blues Brothers, and even directing “Thriller” and “Black Or White” for Michael Jackson – the album arrives at 15 tracks with a guest list that features Nas, Benny the Butcher (“Money On the Table“), The Weeknd and Young Thug (“Better Believe“), Lil Uzi Vert, Big Sean, Moneybagg Yo (“Zero Love“), Gunna, PnB Rock, and NAV.
