DJ Snake‘s Spotify-endorsed collaboration with Sri Lankan singer-songwriter, Dhee, arrives as the flagship track to kick off Spotify Singles in India. To launch the program, and to celebrate World Music Day, Snake remixed Dhee’s Tamil hit, “Enjoy Enjaami.” The superstar French DJ employed some of his signature sonics on a foreign tune whose lyrics actually discuss the Tamil migration to Ceylon during the Colonial era. When questioned about the remix, Dhee answered,
“DJ Snake has done an amazing job in preserving the integrity of the song. He has made it more beautiful. The song has a really heavy core. It’s got history. But it’s also fun. It’s about bringing people together. And, that’s what [DJ Snake] tries to do with his music all the time.”
Snake’s moombahton-inspired remix of “Enjoy Enjaami” does have the capacity to bring people together. Blending a range of influences, all wrapped in Snake’s characteristically broad commercial appeal, the new remix packs a little bit for everyone. Listen below.
