On April 30, Circus made headlines across the world by hosting a 6,000 person rave with no masks or social distancing. Hosted in conjunction with the UK’s Events Research Programme (ERP), the two-day Liverpool event aptly titled The First Dance helped plan the roadmap to returning to live events across the country. At the event, Yorkshire house royalty Hot Since 82 crowd-tested a demo for the first time, which immediately caught the ear of Circus Recordings owner Yousef. Nearly three months later, that demo is finally released as Hot Since 82’s Circus debut “Heater.”
Tinged with Latin and Afro house flavors while staying true to the authentic house sound, “Heater” marks Hot Since 82’s first release of 2021, and consequently the first release since his debut studio album Recovery. The new material lacks the gravitas and emotion of Recovery, but it shows that 82 can still produce a pure club anthem with the best of them. With festival bookings in Blackpool, Leeds, and Bristol, expect “Heater” to burn up dance floors all summer long.
