Fans of Jon Casey have been eagerly awaiting the release of his full-length debut, Harsh Reality, via Dome of Doom. Named one of Dancing Astronaut‘s 5 Under 15K last summer, his mastery over his craft has only sharpened in the last year, with Harsh Reality encapsulating his progress.
Led by the singles “B.T.T.” and “NOSEDIVE,” the 13-track LP includes an intro and outro. Opening with “REALITY CHECK – INTRO,” the album begins by introducing key stylistic tropes that remain present throughout the entire release. Filled with riveting bass lines and weighty percussion arrangements, the entirety of the album expands on the styles teased with Harsh Reality‘s first two singles.
Featuring collaborations with Lucchii, Deathly Chill, Rouge, and Avance, Casey experiments with softer melodies and infectious instrumentals throughout his full-length debut. Mixing elements of trap, dubstep, and more into the album’s complexion, Harsh Reality finds Casey stepping out of his comfort zone and expanding his expertise. With his debut LP under his belt, Casey remains one to keep an eye on as the next chapter of his career unfolds.
