A few days ago, I watched Space Jam: A New Legacy. While stoned out of my gourd.
The acting was cheesy. The storyline was campy. And there were so many references to both Lebron James and Warner Bros.’ respective histories that the movie was essentially a 90-minute commercial for them.
But, that’s exactly why I enjoyed the movie. I, a whole senior citizen, didn’t press play on a movie clearly aimed at young children and families expecting an Oscar-worthy performance. I wanted to approvingly groan at the hijinks (Lebron James dabbing definitely garnered the most eye rollingest of eyerolls, and I mean that in a good way) and be properly distracted for a few minutes. And Space Jam: A New Legacy did that for me in spades.
