Virgil Abloh recruits a star-studded lineup for the latest Louis Vuitton fashion show.
On Thursday, Louis Vuitton held its Summer 2022 fashion show to present their latest collection. For the occasion, titled “Amen Break,” artistic director Virgil Abloh recruited a group of talented A-listers: Lupe Fiasco, Saul Williams, RZA and GZA. Take a look at the show below.
Lupe’s involvement wasn’t on the musical side. In fact, Lupe offers his talents as a swordsman, in line with the show’s theme. It isn’t the first time he’s worked with Abloh, either. The two recently collaborated on “SHOES,” a track dedicated to the late Ahmaud Arbery, a 25-year-old Black man killed in Brunswick, Georgia. Abloh adds a spoken word piece touching on design as well as Arbery’s death. The track appeared on Lupe’s recent HOUSE EP, recorded at his home studio in quarantine during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Lupe, Saul Williams served in a guiding role. Previously, Williams starred alongside Yasiin Bey in Louis Vuitton’s Autumn/Winter 2020 show. The previous collection was titled E B O N I C S.
Along with the show, Abloh revealed a booklet for “Amen Break,” detailing his collaboration with Nike. “The lens to understand the collection and everything in it starts on these pages,” he wrote. “The inherent art of hip-hop and its contributions to culture and art history at large.”
In a 30-minute conversation with artist Reggieknow, Abloh explains the sketches, to “scratch the surface” of “Amen Break.” Check out the conversation on Soundcloud.
