Sparks share new single ‘We Love Each Other So Much’ with vocals from Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard

Sparks have shared a new song ‘We Love Each Other So Much’, which features vocal contributions from Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard.

You can hear the dramatic single below, which features in the forthcoming musical film Annette, which stars the two actors.

Sparks’ Ron and Russell Mael penned the screenplay for the film along with director Leos Carrax, based on an original story by the band.

The film is released on July 6 in France, the same day that it serves as the opening film at the Cannes film festival. ‘We Love Each Other So Much’ is the second track to be revealed following ‘So May We Start’, also featuring Driver and Cotillard.

The film tells the story of a provocative stand-up comedian (Driver) and his world-famous soprano wife (Cotillard), whose lives take an unexpected turn when their daughter Annette is born with a unique gift.

“Initially, we conceived Annette as another Sparks album,” the Mael brothers said. “Yet this time it would be a narrative story that would consist of three main characters, a small enough ensemble that would allow us to also present the ‘opera’ live on tour.

They said they felt “a real kinship” with Carrax when they met him at Cannes and sent him their work so far.

“And lo and behold, he said he really liked the album and would like to consider it as his next project. We were happily surprised and elated at his reaction. As fans of Leos’ films, to now realize that he would be directing a film of ours was beyond our dreams.”

Annette marks the second theatrical project to involve the Mael brothers this year, following the announcement of The Sparks Brothers, Edgar Wright’s documentary on the iconic pop duo.

Last month, the Mael brothers also reunited with Todd Rundgren for the first time in 50 years to record the new track ‘Your Fandango’.
