The gorgeous mum, who has 12 week old Hunter with her fiancee Hayley Willis, says she wants to take things slow to start with.
But her goal is to feel fitter and healthy ahead of her October wedding. Here’s how her first month using The Healthy Mummy app went…
Fiona Falkiner discusses her first month with The Healthy Mummy’s 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge
Fiona says the best thing she’s found since starting The Healthy Mummy, is just how much more organised she is with meal time for the week.
As a new mum, she’s tired and hungry from breastfeeding and Hunter takes up a lot of her time. But with the help of the Healthy Mummy app, she reveals it’s taking the pressure away from what she needs to make for dinner.
“It’s been good, I feel great! I realised that being organised is the key to succeed,” she says. “However, for the first shop of stocking up my pantry, I should’ve done it online and picked it up rather than run around the store with a newborn!”
But once Fiona had all the pantry essentials and everything in her cupboards, she says that picking meals off the app helped her stay on top of everything for the week.
“I did a couple of hours of prep on the Sunday, when Hayley was home to help watch Hunter, and I found that by doing this, it helped me save time in the rest of the week,” she says.
“The schedule really takes out the stress of what to have for dinner. I don’t have to wait until 4pm to decide what to do for dinner, when I’m feeling exhausted. I’ve already pre-made it and it’s healthy and nutritious.”
Fiona loves the meditations on The Healthy Mummy app
Another feature on The Healthy Mummy app that Fiona is a HUGE fan of are the meditations.
“I do them a couple of mornings a week when Hunter has his nap,” she says. “It’s important for me as a new mum to take ten minutes to breathe and ground myself, and I love this on the app.”
It’s still early days for Fiona, who is only able now to start doing Healthy Mummy exercises following giving birth.
However, she’s not focusing on the number on the scales at this point, she just wants to feel healthy and nourish her body as she’s breastfeeding and sleep deprived.
“I’m tired, starving from breastfeeding and time poor, so having the app to help me think of healthy meals to make has been a lifesaver,” says Fiona. “I’m a huge fan of the Mexican Lasagne.
“And I have a Healthy Mummy smoothie a few times a week, I put a heap of spinach in it, which I feel really helps boosts my energy levels.”
Fiona’s goals for next month
The gorgeous TV personality says her goal for next month is to start logging her water.
“I’ve had a few headaches and I’m aiming to up my water intake, as I need to be drinking more, especially as I’m breastfeeding,” she says.
“I also want to get out and walk more. At the minute, Hunter isn’t a fan of the pram but it’s because he’s still in the bassinet. I think when I transition him into the pram seat, it will be easier and I can start getting my walks in. For my mental health as well as physical health.
“I’m looking forward to getting out and about and trying more meals and exercises on The Healthy Mummy app.”
