Cassandra has lost 30 kilos and 80cm

Cassandra was over the moon when she heard she was the winner of the 12 Week Challenge, and she says that the support and accountability with a group of other women doing the same thing was exactly what she needed to smash her goals.

“I have loved the 12 week challenge and would definitely do it again, I am so grateful to the Healthy Mummy!”

About Cassandra

Cassandra is 41 from Bredbo in NSW and is mum to 6 beautiful children aged 19 to 6 years old.

“They are my world along with my amazing husband and for the last 22 years I have poured my heart and soul into them and I’m sure like most wives and mums.. lost myself a bit along the way,” she says.

In fact, Cassandra admits that following a couple of stressful pregnancies, special needs children and dealing with the challenges of them as teenagers led to her weight gain.

“I got depressed and it was a vicious cycle.”

In fact, she’s been watching The Healthy Mummy community since 2015 before she decided to take the plunge and finally join the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge a couple of years ago. 2021 was going to be HER year when she focused on losing weight and getting healthy.

“I was stoked when the 12 challenge was announced this was what I needed,” she says.

“I had 12 weeks of support and accountability with a group of women who were all there doing the same thing, I could do it in the safety of my home and still be connected to a support system of an amazing community and be held accountable each week with my weigh-in, measurements and progress photos.

“I didn’t have to go to a gym. As a morbidly obese lady with social anxiety and depression this was amazing. I was excited to be a part of a community and still be hidden.”

Cassandra’s pledge

  • To speak kindly to myself every day
  • To make time every day for the next 12 weeks even if it’s 10 minutes to exercise
  • To eat as healthy as I can and to enjoy the moments of celebration like birthdays and then straight back to it.
  • To be kind to me, to love me, to have fun as I get fit and healthy.

Along with the obvious weight loss result, Cassandra is loving a heap of other health benefits that comes with her weight loss.

“I feel amazing, I have inflammatory arthritis and my last lot of blood work came back and my inflammatory markers are almost all gone.”

“My skin looks amazing, my gut health feels better, I can move so much easier and a lot faster. I am no longer taking any pain medication.”

I can now buy clothes in rebel sports..and I brought a top it says..in long-distance relationship. I love this because that is how I feel about my weight loss and health journey this is a long-distance thing. It’s an exciting journey.”

How she did it in 12 Weeks

“The 12 week challenge tool kit helped me a lot, it was great for my mental health. I could write down goals and my measurements I found that really good. The Healthy Mummy app and Facebook support group was also an amazing support system for me too.”

What Cassandra ate for weight loss

“I used the Healthy Mummy premium smoothies to help me reach my goal. I had 2 a day breakfast and lunch. My favourite flavours are espresso, choc mint, and double chocolate.”

“I had meat and salad, salad and tuna, salad egg for dinner and  Fruit/yoghurt/handful of nuts for a snack.”

“I drink 3L of water a day 1 cup of black tea or/and 1 cup of green tea with lemon. I have the Healthy Mummy super greens a few times a week I just mix it with water most of the time occasionally in my smoothie.”

Cassandra’s tips for weight loss

“Don’t give up, just keep swimming..as Dory says, because this has taken me 18 years and many many downs to finally have my up and be seeing some real downs on the scales.

“It’s just as much a mental battle as it is a food battle. Thank you for your bravery in sharing your stores along the way. You have helped me, you are beautiful, you are worthy, you are worth it.”

Kirsty has lost 18.5kg and 72cm in JUST 12 weeks!

“I was absolutely speechless when I received the call that I was one of the winners of the 12 Week Challenge. Now that I have had a little time to process, I feel very humbled as there were so many inspiring women in the Challenge,” says Kirsty.

“I was surprised to have won and to be recognised on my accomplishments as I am only part way through my journey. I want to lose another 32 kilos and be at a healthy weight for my body. I am still working on my emotional growth and confidence as well. I am focused on double digits as my next mini goal. So very close.”

“To celebrate my win, I have had my eye on a barbell set for a little while I might treat myself to that.”

Kirsty Whitehead has lost a whopping 18.5 kilo and 72cm on the 12 Week Challenge! The 39-year-old SA-based mum has been following the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge since 2015 and had lost 38.9kg in total.

“Just before the 12 Week Challenge was announced I made a decision to focus on ME and my wants. The timing was perfect and I wanted to give it my all,” she says.

“My pledge was to be committed to myself. To not give up, to focus on my whole self, my physical, emotionally and also my inner health. To lose 10 kilos.”

This mum has lost 18.5kg in just 12 weeks!

Amazingly, Kirsty has reached her pledge! She made a full commitment to herself and has stuck by it for 12 weeks.

“I looked at each area of life. I chose healthy food choices, but also looked after my mental health and I helped myself heal physically and emotionally,” she says.

“In fact, I feel the strongest within myself.”

To help stay on track, Kirsty made a motivation board and she says she found it helped her stay focused.

“I have loved my motivation board. I have never used one before, I popped it on my kitchen door and it was a reminder when I walked through the door,” she says.

“I had three months to cross off. I had some favourite quotes and my pledge written. I even had a little peg counter. This was a powerful incentive to physically move the pegs from kilos shed.

“My kilos have been shed because I am not finding them again. I made this board very ‘Kirsty’ because again my challenge was a commitment to myself.”

And that’s not all! Kirsty says she’s feeling fitter, stronger, less stressed and can walk further than ever before.

“I learnt to deal with stress differently. Food became my last resort instead of first,” she says.

“I learnt tools from the Healthy Mummy app which helped me even through stressful times. My goodness, my energy improved so much. I get up in the mornings with a spring in my step. Even just having surgery my recovery will be faster because I am fitter and stronger.”

What Kirsty does for exercise

Incredibly, Kirsty says she has worked out at least 5 days a week and is a fan of Jo’s no work equipment workouts.

“I had to slow down and limit workouts through my medical issues but have already have the okay for light walking so I can back to being fitter than ever,” she says.

“I have loved the last 12 weeks. I would do it again in a flash. I have adored sharing and being inspired by my Healthy Mummy Village.

“I used the 12 Week tool kit through out the whole challenge. I printed it and wrote my goals, I re minded myself the importance of prepping and took tips from the tool kit, to save time, to same money and it removed the overwhelming feeling at the beginning.

“I loved the app every aspect of it.”
